Sponsored by Alessondra's OKC Owl Cam
Alessondra is a homeschooled 8-year-old from Oklahoma City who loves owls, learning, and teaching others. She also has a heart for helping, especially when it comes to fellow Oklahoma children, one in four of whom battle hunger.
Alessondra's Great Horned Owl Cam is a live webcam about a family of Great Horned Owls that have made Alessondra's 2nd story planter box their nest. Her Dad set up a camera to stream video so that Alessondra and the rest of the family could view it on a site called Ustream. Over the past few years, the stream has received millions of views, with spectators enjoying the education and entertainment of watching the "Tiger Family" of owls lay eggs, brood them, and raise owlets to fledge. Through this process, Alessondra, provides commentary and educates viewers through the process through video updates, online chats, live speaking appearances in local schools, and stories on the news.

Why A Fundraiser About Hunger?
Through this experience, viewers get a front row view of nature at its best; a mother and father owl, able to provide an abundance of food for their young ones to hopefully thrive and eventually have families of their own.
The human race, however, is much more complicated. Too often, people aren't fully able to make ends meet and provide food for themselves or their families. We, the Click Family, believe we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to come to the aid of those in need.
Viewers from all over the world have offered to provide financial assistance or gifts to cover the costs of the stream, or to say "Thanks!". The Clicks have committed to never commercializing the stream or benefitting financially from it.
As a way to offer viewers an opportunity to contribute in some small way, Alessondra has created the "Give A Hoot About Hunger" campaign.
Hear from Alessondra herself about why she chose to launch the "Give A Hoot About Hunger" campaign:
How You Can Give A Hoot
One in six Oklahomans has inconsistent access to food, and one in four children is considered hungry. Every $1 donated to the Regional Food Bank will provide 5 meals to our neighbors in need.
Please "Give A Hoot About Hunger" and join us in fighting hunger in Oklahoma! By making a direct donation just $5 from this page, you can provide 25 meals to children and adults dealing with hunger.
